Notifications Disappear When Icon Clicked (Solved)

The Task Bar icon for Notifications will show that there is at least one notification, but I have no idea what that might be about, for now when I click on the icon, any new notifications are cleared with no further action needed by me.

This started a day or two ago, and I have not found anything on-line that tells me to set something that is not already set, so I don't know what to do to make notifications acting so elusively.

    Hey mate,

You might check using the tutorial below to see if may have been badges showing on the taskbar icons.

That setting is on, and all things that are supposed to be on the taskbar are there.; icons not wanted there are shut off.

It's normal for the notification badges to clear on the app's taskbar icon when the app is opened.

I don't know what "notification badges" are, I only know that the icon for notifications will change from black to white and have a number indicating how many new notifications are there, and that when I click on the icon, any such notifications disappear and the action center never opens to show me the notifications.

I believe that, for example, this behavior occurred last night: Macrium Reflect runs the daily incremental backup at 1700 local, and there should be two notifications about this, one for the start and one for the finish of that backup. I've not seen any such for at least a few days; I don't recall having seen them either sometime later that evening, and certainly not this morning.

Unread notifications should, and have, remained visible until I click on `clear all notifications' at the bottom right corner of the action center, but as I never see anything else, I don't see that; in its absence, I don't click on it.

    In short, it is broken.

It sounds like you are talking about the badge on the Action Center button instead of badges on the taskbar icon of the app(s) itself instead.

For me, it seems to have always cleared the badge whenever opening the Action Center (Win+A). The notifications inside the Action Center remain there until cleared though.

Correct: It is only the Action Center button that is not working properly: As I wrote earlier, several times a day I will see a number there to indicate how many new alerts there are, but it is those alerts that are cleared by simply clicking on the badge, which should (and used to) open the Action Center.

Now, not only does clicking on the badge remove the number, it improperly removes any and all new notifications. No new number on the badge for several hours today, so cannot check to see if the problem may have been cleared up through some unknown mechanism (such as the badge reading this thread...).

White icon showed two messages; clicked on icon, numbers went away, icon turned black, and there is nothing whatsoever in Action Center. Click on "Open action center", nothing happens. File Manager shows that Macrium Reflect ran properly at 1705 local, which is probably why icon showed two messages.

    Does not work.

I guess that my on-line search for nirvana was why I did not find the three links that you were kind enough to provide. I clicked on the first one, followed its directions, which required two restarts. I just woke the monitor, found that the notification icon showed that I had one new entry. With some trepidation, I clicked on the icon and was pleasantly surprised to find that the Action Center opened with one new entry. Just to be sure, I left it there, closed and reopened the center and deleted the entry.
