So when I click on it, it gets little and sometimes no matter what I do I can not type in the box I can not edit it.
I like to use the everything search from void tools but it will not work on a network drive. So I have to use windows search and windows search acts like its doing many things but it does not seam like its doing much searching. LIke it takes windows 5 minutes and then it finally starts to show files one at a time where voidtools search shows everything instantly. Why is windows search so slow and messed up.

Are there any other search tools available to us that will allow us to search a drive that is shared ?
Any one know why the text gets so small like this ? This is windows 10 on a alienware laptop.

It seams it may have to do with the whole Nvidia situation. ?

Hi, Locate32 (free) can index networked locations and add that to an existing database file or create a separate one.

    Example:

Here you can see results from a shared folder on my other PC.

I assume this would work for a networked drive.

I imagine you are seeing a slow green progress bar when this happens.

Please understand Windows search is only instant where everything in the file hierarchy below where you start in file explorer is indexed.

If anything is not, search is likely to be very slow.

Consider a data disk. It's easiest to index the whole thing (see Indexing Options) if you want fast results from any part of it.

Slow results from Windows search should not be something for which you should blame Windows search, rather consider what you have specified to be indexed, which by default is not a lot. MS has taken some steps from 1909 to change this. I note you have a rather older build.

Currently I create a CSV file for my network drive with "Everything" search from void tools. THis helps me find files. With Locate32 I do not see how to make the database include my network drive.

Forgive the obvious question- have you looked at the Help provided with Locate32? It's the right-most option at the top.

    Here's what it says:
