    Windows cannot find C:\users.......'

After updating Adobe Player among other programs, my laptop can no longer find Mozilla Firefox. I went to my desktop, and after updating the same programs it can no longer find Microsoft WORD or any WORD documents.

    the message is as follows:

Windows cannot find 'C:\Users\***\Desktop\New Microsoft Word Document.docx'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.

Similar message for Firefox on my laptop.

Both systems are using Win 10 (version 18362.836).

On the laptop I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. run Malwarebytes, TDSSKILLER, AWDCleaner, and Microsoft safety scanner.

    Please help.

    "windows cannot find" pdf doc

For Windows Office I went to Programs in Control Panel and ran "Change" for the Windows Office software, choosing the longer ONLINE option re-install. That fixed my problem with DOCX files.

For Adobe Acrobat, I picked up on the solution at
Solved: Windows cannot find 'c:\.....\AcroRd32.exe' - Adobe Support Community - 8835378
--and modified that REGEDIT fix by going to...
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options
Once there, I found two entries for Adobe execution. I noticed that the DEBUGGER entry value pointed to my AVG anti-virus program. I deleted the 2 DEBUGGER entries instead of deleting the entire Adobe Acrobat key.
Then PDF's opened with no problem.

    HTH.

Bit confused - not being able to find a .docx file is not the same as not being able to open MS Word. Is MS Word still listed in the Start menu (and does that still work)?

Similarly, is the Firefox entry/icon still in the Start menu and does that work?

How did you update Adobe Flash - manually/forced or on an update prompt?

Word is listed in start but does not work. DOCX files do not open again after reboot. Tried renaming the WINWORD.EXE and that didn't work.

However, using REGEDIT to delete the DEBUGGER entry for Adobe worked. So that was an anti-virus issue preventing Acrobat Reader from opening.

Where are you getting these "fixes" from ?

Renaming WINWORD.EXE ... Where? Why? What to?

    What anti-virus?

Adobe ... you mentioned Player (Flash) first, but now Acrobat??

I suspect there's more going on with your system than just a simple update glitch .....
