Windows 10 Pro after update Now Windows 10 Home

I was running Windows 10 Pro and today Windows did a update. This motherboard was Certified Refurbished from Gigabyte too. So today I just let it do it and it got to 100%. Then it acted like I was doing a new install. So I said what the hell is this but let finish. When I went to check some thing I notice that now I have Windows 10 home.

It is still running Version 1909 too. So what now we do updates when running Pro and after the update puts Home on. This has done other updates before this with no problems like this. So what do you do now live with what you have? Or do I have now to BUY another Pro key to get back to Pro. Plus if does another update does it put me back to HOME again?

The thing is did this Motherboard have Home on it first before I got it? Then the Update seen this? I have been running Pro on it from January too.

I would not expect a cumulative update to have changed the edition from Pro to Home, but if there is a Home key in the bios then a clean install certainly will.

If you had been running Pro before and it was activated with a digital licence, then you can upgrade from the Home installed by a clean install by changing the key to the generic Pro key.

I already fix by putting in one of my keys that I have.

The thing is I been using, building, & repairing computers for almost 40 yrs. I have been installing windows on computers from 1996. I have been upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10 from when 10 first came out. On well over a 100 computers. Plus never ever any thing like this.

To start out on this computer I did upgrade from windows 7 pro. Once done I did a clean install. By using 1909 disk.

The thing is before I did the updates my Task Bar was dark. After the update the task bar was still dark. On the Home version the Task bar is a light color now 1909.

I have never ever had a update go into a like new install mode. Once the update was done it acted just like I had install windows for the first time. You know near the end where it ask you a few question then say we are almost finish and just cleaning some stuff up. You don't get that when you are doing updates.

I mostly started this thread to see if any body ever ran into something like this.

Plus I'm going throw this out there. I did have a boot-able USB drive with windows 10 on it plug in. Now did that some how kick in after the update and do something?

That might have been it, because there was a couple of times where windows has done updates. When it does rebooted after the update it has gone into windows 7. In the Bios it is set to boot from windows boot manager.

Plus it has only happen after a windows update when the boot order does change. I can reboot the computer all day long and it will never change. I'll have to email the mother board company support. Ask them about changing the boot order on it's own.

Ok sorry for the long wait to finish this thread. But I think got it figure out. It hasn't done it on any more updates. It did it on some quick power outages we had in the area in the past week. It would change to windows 7 that is on another drive. That is after it would restart after the quick outages. Plus it did it twice too.

What I did in the Bios is with all the HDD drives I have installed. In the area where it shows all the HDD's. I put the M.2 drive with windows 10 at the top of the list. Then I put the drive with windows 7 at the bottom of the list. Then on the 1st boot option I have with the windows boot manager. On the 2nd boot option I have that set to the M.2 drive with windows 10 on it.

Where I had the two drives 1 & 2 in the bios for some reason it would jump to windows 7 drive. So I hope this takes care of the problem.
