Problem with the power saving mode

Hello,

I've had a problem with power conservation for a few weeks now. Normally my procedure is the following:

Putting the PC into power saving mode
Switch off the connector strip to which the PC is connected
Next time switch on the power strip and start the PC

Windows Version: 2004, Build: 19041.264

Before that, all the programs I had open before power saving mode were open. Now I have the problem since a few weeks that the PC boots normally and all programs are closed. This is not so nice, because I always have relatively many programs open, so I always have to restart them, which takes some time.
Does anyone know by chance what this could be due to?

Hi, are you referring to sleep or hibernation? Could you explain that?

What sort of PC? Surface? Tablet? Laptop? Desktop? Model?

i am using a Desktop PC and referring to the sleep mode.

If you use sleep mode then cut the power completely, then the data held in RAM is lost. Thus the PC will boot from cold when you next power it up.

A small amount of power is necessary to maintain sleep mode.

That's why I asked about hibernation- if you hibernate a PC, the data is saved on disk, not in RAM, so you can then cut the power.

And that's why I asked whether it was a laptop or not- had it been a laptop and there was a battery in it, the battery would have provided power for sleep mode.

FYI: Note there is a change/difference in sleep mode /modern standby in build 2004 that's been reported:
v.2004 update removes ability to turn off "Modern Standby"

Ok, then i am using the hibernation mode, i didn't know the difference between the two. The strange thing is, that it worked and before i upgraded to the newest version, i already had this issue.

- normally you would click a menu option that says 'Hibernate' to do that, as you can see from the second screenshot here:

So you would know which you were using.

Exactly how do you put your PC into this problem mode?

As shown in that tutorial there are several methods.

i checked how my PC bootet the last time and it was a cold boot from full shutdown.
09.06.2020 15:27:35 27 Informationen Der Starttyp lautete "0x0".

Usually i put my PC following these steps into sleep:
1. Windows
2. On/Off
3. Energie saving

I've just enjoyed the same problem for about 15 minutes. The Power Saving settings wouldn't save. I'd set them from Power Options, close it & go back in and everything was set at never. I reshoed, pardon me, I mean rebooted and still the same exciting thing.
Suddenly for no reason at all, everything just took and is working ok again. I've got a Class B & C Fire Extinguisher right close should this thing burst into ball of flame & send a mushroom cloud over the house!
