Clean Install Windows 10 1909 18363.836 - something went wrong?

    Greeting fellow forum people;

I have done a clean install of windows 10 on my pavilion p6540y desktop. Ever since, I've been having some strange slowness and it crashes and I get the blue screen-of-apology and a note saying "we are gathering information" and a restart. Sometimes I go through several restarts, but then finally it seems to run correctly, at least for a while. But also, this computer has been trying to download and install the update to 2004, and it keeps failing. What could have gone wrong? When I was first trying to re-install windows, several times the program told me my computer was missing an important driver. On the third time, I didn't get this warning and it went ahead and installed. But something is wrong. Any ideas?

I have wondered if the drivers for the HDD need updating, but WD is not showing a driver update for this HDD (Caviar Blue WD5000AAKS). I've run tests but so far everything tests okay.

    Hi GuyCabellero,

Create a bootable Windows 10 iso 1903 > clean install 1903 > indicate whether there are or are not problems

    1) find a flash drive that you can format (> or = 8 GB)
    2) On a working computer create a bootable Windows 10 iso 1903:
Create Bootable USB Flash Drive to Install Windows 10

Windows Download - #1 Windows ISO Download Source
Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool
    TechBench by WZT (v4.1.1)

    Clean install Windows 10 1903:
    Clean Install Windows 10

Don't install any drivers or applications.

Known and Resolved issues for Windows 10 May 2020 Update version 2004

If there are problem with a clean install 1903 please take pictures and post images into the thread.
Then plan to check RAM and drive.

To check HP hardware > find a flash drive with free space (formatting is not necessary)
On a working computer download and install HP UEFI hardware diagnostics version 7.6 onto a flash drive: (left side of this webpage)
    https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/.../pc-diags.html

Insert the flash drive into any free USB port on the problematic computer.
Repetitively click F2 > launch the HP hardware diagnostics > system > extensive > loop until error > run overnight > take pictures > post images into the thread

Hi, if the plan is to install 1903, perhaps you also need to not accept updates as part of the installation procedure, or disconnect the internet.

    pavilion p6540y desktop
This seems to be from around 2010: no guarantees of successful operation with Win 10 of course, and even if one build works, the next might have problems.

Did it originally have driver support for both 32 and 64 bits?

    https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers.../model/4216282
    - none listed

I believe HPs policy is to withdraw drivers and support pages for older systems.

History: (so often omitted by posters)
I have done a clean install of windows 10 on my pavilion p6540y desktop
What O/S was it running before that?
    If Win 10, which build?
What led you to doing a clean install- were there particular problems?
