Really need help... Computer has 2 drives

I really need help here. So far nobody has been able to help me with this issue.

But I have 2 drives in my HP Desktop PC. I am wanting the Windows files and partitions to save to the SSD and the important files, photos, documents, downloads, etc. to save to my HDD. I don't know how to do set it up like this. When I reverted back to Windows 10 1909, the computer crashed and I had to start over from HP Recovery. Now, everything is saving to my SSD. My HDD is 1 TB, The SSD is 500 GB.

I hope someone can help me with this task that I am confused about.

Hi Jesse.

So just so we are on same page.

You have successfully re-installed Windows on your SSD and it runs as it should. You can save / file documents but they are all being saved on your SSD.

Correct?

What is currently in your HDD?

Was it being used for documents, pictures etc?

Are the folders still present?

I have already told you about the tutorials and the risks of using the Location tab. So I have helped you about that.

Here are some of the many tutorials about changing the location of folders so you can put them on your second drive. Remember I have warned you of the danger of doing so.

Now you have to consider:

- just what is doing the saving? Which program?

You say

Now, everything is saving to my SSD.

- but you say nothing about how you are saving data.

So far nobody has been able to help me with this issue.

- could be why..

Consdering a particular program e.g. a browser: you may be able to set its default save folder, and if that's already to one of the above folders, then moving that will achieve your aim.

If you use
File, Save as
you will get a dialogue where you specify where something will be saved.

This is available in many programs.

@dalchina, mainly just pictures on this computer. I check my emails on my Laptop in the morning time and the emails on the desktop in the evening. But the desktop is used for editing pictures, saving pictures, sharing pictures, and storing pictures.

Jesse, you have to tell windows where you want to save the picture, in this case on your hard drive.

You have to make and label folders on your hard drive, that`s where you will save your photos, data etc.

When you download something it automatically goes into your downloads folder, after it downloads, copy and paste it into the proper folder you want to on the hard drive.

Then delete it from your downloads folder.

I hope you`re not downloading a bunch of garbage, we`ve talked about this before.

If you want, you could make a folder on the D drive named "pictures" and put everything in there.

You DON'T have to accept whatever choice Windows points you to---you don't have to use the "users" directory or the C drive for storage AT ALL.

You are driving and in control. Not Windows. At least in that respect.

If you take your hands off the wheel, well...........Windows takes over. Your choice entirely.

I relocate all my user folders using the location tab of the folders properties. I've never had a single issue with it.
