    Folder Dimensions Preserved

By default, Windows kept the dimensions of each folder, but now I've noticed that it is no longer so.

If I resize a folder, all folders acquire the same dimensions.

I don't use folder templates, besides the general one.

I suggest that you edit your post, including its title, to explain exactly what you mean.

    Folders do not have dimensions.

Perhaps a screenshot would be the best means of explaining the problem.

All Folders Use The Dimensions of The Last Folder You Resize

Dimensions are width and height (2D), because size refers to the amount of data of the files/folders on a folder.

These two folders have different dimensions:

You mean their icons are different sizes? That is controlled by the File explorer, View menu.

Hard to tell by the terminology, but if I had to guess, the OP is referring to the File Explorer window size of whatever 'folder' is currently open, and that it remembered each one uniquely afterwards.

I could be wrong, but for me it's always inherited whatever the very last folder's window size was regardless of content.

It wasn't like that until recently for me (Win10 1903).

(Windows/File) Explorer would remember the window size of each folder independently, and probably saved the customizations in the hidden file(s) stored on each folder.

So it is File explorer window size that you are talking about?

I don't know any method of controlling it. It just opens at the size it had the last time its size was manually adjusted [as opposed to sizing by using WinKey-LeftArrow etc].

Perhaps others with better memories can contribute here. I do know that for me folder's columns and sort criteria get remembered, but currently right now in 1909 18363.836 I'm not see the window's size itself remembered.

That's what I noticed, it takes a while for you to realize the change so can't be sure if it was the move to 1903 or an update to File Explorer.

Using Windows for over a decade and Explorer did remember the window sizes for each folder.

I'd use Explorer Options to set all folders to a default state, then make individual changes to some folders.

This one size fits all is not a good change and is not the only one, hopefully like other changes I can get the functionality back.
