Safe mode no password Win 10 problem

As my computer had been getting hot recently followed a procedure to rectify which involved going into safe mode. Unfortunately as many others have experienced my finger print and pin password was by passed and could remember password. Have followed previous threads as this seems a common problem, however whilst creating a Windows installation media USB, this does not boot up when I start my affected laptop and just keep getting the password screen. Any advice how to do this would be much appreciated. My laptop is a Yoga 910 running 64bit Win 10

The downside of using Safe Mode [a diagnostic] is that many drivers for devices don't get loaded so they become unavailable like the fingerprint reader. Same for a PIN number which is based upon/attached to the password used when it was created. Using other bootable media can also be a problem.

You need to read your computer manual to find out which key to press at the start of bootup in order to tell it to use the USB.

The key required varies between computer makers.

If your computer maker has a support site or a user forum then you could also search there for guidance on booting from a USB.

Then you should be able to get out of Safe mode

Some motherboards don't allow booting from a USB drive if secure boot is enabled in the bios.

Can you log-in to your account in normal mode?

Do you have a Microsoft or a local administrator account?
--- Do you have more than one account: if so is it an administrator account?

Is this the correct manual for your Lenovo YOGA 910 laptop?

"my computer had been getting hot"
--- Is it possible to troubleshoot that in normal mode?

Doing this would be a bad security policy, since the Secure Boot protection would be disabled when booting from a UFD.

In my experience, with Secure Boot enabled, some (few) boot UFDs donīt boot, but this is because of the ISO or the procedure used to build them. Sometimes a message appears, sometimes there is no message, the UFD just does not boot.

Edit - this applies to boot in UEFI native mode (UEFI only).

    About the 'secure boot' discussions

In any case, it should all be alright because the OP now has a link to the Lenovo guidance on booting from a USB [and the article contains a check of which models it refers to].

Obviously disabling secure boot is less secure but sometimes disabling it or going to legacy mode is the only option and re-enabling after the work is done . Otherwise you're stuffed.

When discussing security there may be 2 choices, Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking. The second choice will enable the network adapter so the first choice should be safer for most purposes in diagnosing.

    @Mercurial666
Thanks to Try3, the F12 key is the correct key to boot from the USB disk.

On the manual I was getting ahead of myself as I wanted to see what the troubleshooting section has.
--- Unfortunately there isn't anything related to running hot.
