Windows 10 Icon Reset Fix

Hi, in another thread on this forum, people using ESET Nod32 have found a solution to their problem giving rise to the same symptoms, related to two specific registry keys. I'm just wondering if anyone else has the same keys on their PC and whether this is of any help or points in any useful direction for others.

I will provide the FIX here and walk you through it

In regedit go to those 2 destinations
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{42aedc87-2188-41fd-b9a3-0c966feabec1}\InProcServer32\
and
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{42aedc87-2188-41fd-b9a3-0c966feabec1}\InProcServer32\
Double click on (Default) and replace "%SystemRoot%\SysWow64\shell32.dll" with "%SystemRoot%\system32\windows.storage.dll" in both file destinations then restart your PC and everything should work fine !!"

Ah, finally understood.
I believe 32 bit OS's will only have
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{42aedc87-2188-41fd-b9a3-0c966feabec1}\InProcServer32
whereas 64 bit OS's have that and
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{42aedc87-2188-41fd-b9a3-0c966feabec1}\InProcServer32\
I only have the first- my OS is 32 bits.
Note that another solution which only addresses folder view settings, related to a possible size limit of "BagMRU Size", has been proposed (from XP onwards), noting it concerns the number of folders for which Windows holds records.
Thus it would not correct issues with desktop icons being rearranged.
