Solved! Fresh install without ESET Smart Security or ESET AV etc ( I had ESS 8), just keep Windows Defender, good enough, or use another AV.
Recovery backup not usefull, if contain ESET, problem persist after windows update!
I like to position all my desktop icons in a custom order, but since I took my PC into the Geeks to remove a suspected virus, my desktop icons keep returning to default positions upon restart or refresh. I've experimented with unchecking grid and align options, and even followed instructions found online that instructed me how to modify the registry, yet no success. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
I use this third party software from the link below ( Desktop Restore ) . I know it doesn't include windows 10 but it works for me and I'm using the 64bit
Code:http://www.midiox.com/
I have five Windows 10 computers, it only happens when the computer uses a 4k TV as a monitor. The order the icons are sorted into is 'date modified' which is very weird. I can't stop it, but a tacky solution is to change the date modified, so that icons come out in a sensible order. 'bulkfilechanger-x64' does that, and it's free. There are a lot of bugs in windows 10, so don't expect a quick fix. (eg New music player that just disappears after a couple of seconds of playing a flac)
I use a docker, every time I reconnect with a much bigger screen they change. They also change often after a reboot I also have tried everything and its maddening never knowing where on the desktop an icon is now!
