    Windows Explorer crash/restarting

For a few weeks now I've had issues with windows explorer crashing/restarting every hour, sometimes more. When ever i check event view it always shows. Did a fresh install today to see if it would stopped but it happened again right after I installed Intel Chipset drivers. ( could of just been bad timing).

    I'm running Win 10 Version 2004 Build 19041.264

Hi, please start with these basic checks:
HDTune v2.55 free Health and Error scan tabs
    Run
    chkdsk c: /scan
from an admin command or Powershell prompt

    If ok then similarly run
    SFC /SCANNOW

If all pass, then disable all non-MS context menu entries using Shellexview (free).

    See if there's any change.

Thanks, time to try a clean boot next - the aim being to eliminate a lot of 3rd party possibilties.

However, this is an insider build, so...

    Try running Whocrashed (free).

Note that Shellexview doesn't necessarily list all shell extensions. For possibly more try the appropriate section shown by Autoruns (free from MS).

    For a few weeks now
    - any idea what change happened around then? Update? Upgrade? Installation?

Hey, thanks for all the help I think i was able to resolve it. Used a bit of windbg and visual studio. While windbg only mentions ntdll and heap corruption, when i used visual code it mention a file linked to IDM.exe and IDM Helper (Internet Download Manager). So i uninstalled IDM and haven't had any explorer flashes or crashes since. Didn't think it could be IDM as I've been using it for years without issues so i think maybe the new version has issues or something.

Great- 3rd party problem was the likely one.

Apart from uninstalling Internet Download Manager, did anyone find a solution to explorer.exe crashing and restarting.

It appears to be only affecting the Firefox IDM Integration Module.
