Here is the problem with what you are saying. If you follow the instructions for a Clean Install, you will have Deleted the HDD of ALL partitions. If the Install failed from this point, you cannot go back to the previous install you had because you Deleted the Partitions that included it. So, when you say, it can go no further, and now you have the original Windows 10 Enterprise OS you had previously plus your programs, then you didn't Delete the Partitions.
Anyways, just get a brand new HDD and do a Clean Install and be done with it.
thanks spunk i really appreciate your help. and will look into the suggestion. but for now, whatever i got was what i had before last dec. my pc is running fast again and the spell check is working like it did back then. so, for now, i will look for another drive but wait on installing that until i see issues with what i have now. i can't tell you exactly what happened but i have restored other pc's and this went just like the rest. but for the restore, i did last dec. that restore on this pc did not look good from the start however i kept it hoping it was a glitch.

but after all this time it just got worse and i had no choice. i agree it did not do a clean install as i have done them tons of times on other people pcs but this one stumped me so i had to ask for some ideas. so for now as it is doing good i will leave it alone. it did not remove my pictures or data or even the downloads i have. hence clean install, but it seems to have fixed whatever was wrong. it did do a complete os install as now i do not have 3 windows folders like i had before. now i have the windows and old windows. that was what i had before last dec.

what i believe happened the last tie was i got a corrupted file or two and that just kept getting worse.

so again thanks for all the ideas and help.

You are Welcome. I am glad you got it sorted and you are up and running to your satisfaction. If you run into problems, I strongly suggest a Clean Install on a new drive. If you need further assistance please don't hesitate to post back.

thanks, spunk. so far it is duing great. way better than when i did this last dec. in fact i have to now relearn so of the things that changed last time. i can now save pictures as documents, couldn't do that and adjust the pictures sizes with cntrl and the mouse wheel.

and if i have any issues again i will get a brand new drive and install a new os on that drive. again thanks for all the help, who knows if i have issues again you may be willing to help again. thanks much
