How to access iPad Photos in PC via iCloud App?

Hiya, subject of this post basically.
I followed the below two KB articles from Apple
Set up and use iCloud Photos on your Windows PC – Apple Support
Set up and use iCloud for Windows - Apple Support

First of all even though I am checking iCloud Drive and hitting 'Apply', it is getting auto de-selected.
Secondly in options for Photos I don't see all the options as mentioned in the KB.
In my PC, I only have this folder C:\Users\Uname\Pictures\iCloud Photos\Shared

My Win 10 version is 1909. Thx.

I use a cloud to send and receive files. Ex. upload a file to Google Drive or OneDrive on the PC. Then, on the phone's same cloud, I download the same file. It works both ways. I am sorry if I did not address your question about iCloud and hope what I said helps.
You obviously need the same cloud on both phone and PC. I usually delete the file from clouds after transfer. From PC to phone is more difficult due to Apple security but it works well with no cable.
This saves not having to download iCloud or Windows which I do not care for.

Are you actually signed in? I ask as a lot of people have two factor authentication enabled. Think you have to use "App" password.

What I do. I use iTunes to get drivers. I then directly connect iPad or iPhone to computer and simply use File Explorer.

I would check if app password is needed for Windows iCloud.

    >>Ken, to your knowledge is iTunes going to be phased out or discontinued?

Yes on MAC's, might have already happened, no on Windows.

That said Apple could decide to come up with Windows versions of the MAC apps. Might be easier to support in long run.

Not sure what they are doing with Android.

    >>Thanks for that. I was not using the convenience of iTunes because I did not want to depend on a feature that might not be there. I have found work arounds, not quite as good though. :)

They will have to come up with something. No way Apple is going to give up on such a large audience as Windows.

Thanks for the pointer mate, I will stick to this work around of OneDrive, gets the job done :)
Marking this thread as 'solved', cheers!
