    Can't delete folder - don't have rights - Windowsapps

    VErsion 1909 Build 18363.778

please see video. I have these leftover folders from after uninstalling games through Windows apps, like Forza 4 - the Sunrise folder thing is 74gb! And i can't delete it, says i don't have permission.
What do i need to do?

I can't see what the parent folder/directory is, but it looks like you took permission of c:\Programs File\Windows Apps.

These is a system folder. It has restricted permissions. Deleting/uninstalling Store Apps, games or otherwise, always leaves these file, and registry entries and more. I highly recommend you not try to force delete them, as you likely will not get all the parts. They are small. Let them be. I know, I know, MS should clean up better, but on these it does not.

On the Forza thing, I've seen people having the same issue you have with that huge folder, 74GB. I don't game, but there is a solution for it, I believe. Just don't know what it is.

In your video you show taking ownership, but then not being able to add permissions. After taking ownership it tells you that you need to close that properties window and reopen it before you can change permissions. You should then be able to add your user account and grant it full control.

nono - the path is D:\WindowApps
these are junk folders that i want to delete, they don't contain anything system related.
There has got to be a way to delete them.
My windows is installed on another drive completely.

Oh, did not know you had OS and files separate, you didn't say so until now.

You should be able to add yourself and full permission and delete it.

Ok here are the steps i take.
    - I right click Microsoft.Forzahorizon4Demo_1. etc...its 28GB
    - Right click>Properties. Its attributes are read only.

then security tab>list of all the names with various permissions.

my username has no permissions ticked. Administrators have all ticked (black ticks).
    So i click on Advanced.

The owner at the top is set to Administrators. So i change that to my name. I then tick the 'replace owner on subcontainers andobjects' checkbox. Then i click apply.

It comes up with the box you just pasted above. I click ok. I then close all the menu pages down until i'm back to the explorer view again.

Then i right click the same folder again> properties>security tab>advanced

now it shows the owner as my name. I click on my name in the permission entries list, and it says I have full control.

But then when i go back to the previous page with the p ermission ticks - and highlight my name, its all greyed out, no black ticks.

    - - - Updated - - -

made a 2nd video showing what i'm doing - any more ideas?
or am i going to have to format the entire drive just to get rid of this.....

When taking ownership try ticking the box for 'Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object'.

    Have a read:

On Windows 8.1 and 10, how to clean up the app folder, delete apps

I can't help with your permissions muddle. If it was me - I'd reinstall windows. Personally I never take ownership of system folders without being able to restore original permissions straight after making any changes.

    @hiohaa

Just don't start it with system rights unless you need them.
