    PC won't hibernate

    Greetings everyone,
Early this month I made some changes to my PC and now it won't hibernate anymore.
I installed a new video card, moved the boot partition from one of my hard drives (which had Linux on it, by now obsolete to me) onto the SSD that Win10 is on, and replaced that old HDD with another SSD.

Now I don't know if it was any of these changes that brought about this issue or if it was some Windows update. (Windows 10 Pro 1909)

    Does anyone have any idea?

I had that happen with a video card; needed to grab the driver from the manufacturers site and not use the W10 'generic' driver.

Hi ff47APHp. Welcome to the TenForums @ff47APHp

Agree with previous poster, would be looking at Video Card driver.

I would first uninstall all Video card drivers (maybe some remnants of older card) with a porduct like DDU

Official Display Driver Uninstaller DDU Download

I would also enter BIOS and reload and save defaults to ensure BIOS has properly sensed new card. Of course if you made changes to BIOS you will have to reapply.

Is this a laptop or a desktop?

For the latter hibernation is pointless. I've disabled mine. I'll sleep it occasionally, but I never saw need for hibernation (and I hate to waste 10 GB of storage for this useless feature).

If it's a laptop ... are you sure that sleep isn't good enough?

I have uninstalled the video card and reinstalled with the latest driver and the issue persists.

Open Command Prompt (Admin) and type
    powercfg /h on

Then check your "Power Options" Settings

In my case, hibernation is enabled by default. It should not have been disabled in the OP's case.

Hibernate is already enabled. I have tried that already.

You could of course try reverse thinking, as it were-

    powercfg /h off
    then
    powercfg /h on

    ....

    To add to the confusion:

    powercfg /h off && powercfg /h on
