How to search through file contenst in Win 10 1909

    Hi,

Can we still search through file contents in an Explorer search. I'm looking for a certain text .

I followed a site about it but it had all changed since April 2019

    Thanks

    oz,

Yes. You should just enter the text in the File explorer search box then click on the green button that appears as you type.

What makes you ask this question? Is something going wrong?

There's just a little more to it though as you mention file content search. Factors include:
    a. You need to have the ifilter installed for the file type of interest
    b. The file you're looking for has to within the indexed locations
    c. content indexing has to be enabled for that location and file type

a site about it but it had all changed since April 2019
    - which site? What do you believe has changed as regards content indexing?
1909 certainly changed some search features and introduced problems using file explorer search, partly fixed.

Considering 3rd party search utlities- having a fast indexing 3rd party search tool is really useful. However note that in most of them, content search is not on an indexed basis, but rather on a file search on files first found e.g. by name.

Which file types can be searched by content by such tools needs checking as this can vary.
