Windows 10 laptop has lost all boot function other than auto repair

    Hi there
my Acer aspire one cloud book 11( windows 10- version 1803, 32 GB) 64 bit-A01-131-COBA is stuck on an endless automatic repair loop and all efforts to get it to boot normally have failed. It will not reset- either maintaining or with loss of data and start up repair mode also has no function.I ran system restore from the safe mode, which incredibly it must be said failed with this error : ''system restore ran out of space when restoring your files''-why go to the trouble of creating one, if its not go to be there when you need it I wondered.

Moving on I ran a back up ISO file which also failed this due to a missing section of data error it seems.

My pc will still then only boot into these help modes and have tried numerous methods to get it to re boot using cmd in safe mode which also have not remedied the situation.

Any advice on how to resolve this issue would then would be most appreciated

Have you been using disk imaging routinely as tenforums members so often recommend? If so you could restore a recently created image. (Macrium Reflect- free (+ paid) - is often recommended here for recovery from sudden disaster.

The Macrium Reflect boot disk has a useful 'Fix boot' utililty which you could try.

What is the sequence you actually see when you try to boot normally?

How much free space do you have on C: ? And how large is your system disk?

It seems to only be 32 Gb emmc. So by choosing to enable System Restore on a very small system disk, you've used up significant space for restore points. Given that very limited space, it's hardly surprising System Restore ran out of space.

incredibly it must be said failed with this error : ''system restore ran out of space when restoring your files''-why go to the trouble of creating one, if its not go to be there when you need it I wondered

You can expect to have problems performing updates and especially feature updates because of the very limited space. These might help.. but it will be a struggle:

From Aspire One 11 AO1-132 specs the laptop has only 32 G of drive space and only 2G of memory.
As the 32 G drive is a eMMC and is directly soldered on the motherboard, the only solution is a SD card to increase your space storage.

To make it usable, you must move the C:\Users (EMMC) to D:\Users (SD) and::
    - Disable System Restore.
    - Move the virtual memory to D:
    - Disable hibernation (“powercfg.exe -h off” [make sure you are an Administrator])

You can also replace Win 10 with a light Linux. It will work much better with a Linux than with Win 10.

To get out of the endless automatic repair loop, my suggestion is to boot from windows-10-recovery-tools and move some files to an external drive and do some clean up:
Go to C:\Users"Name"\AppData\Local\Temp and delete all files and folders
Go to C:\Windows\Temp and delete all files and folders
Try to boot. If you succeed::
    - Disable System Restore.
    - Move the virtual memory to D:
    - Disable hibernation (“powercfg.exe -h off” [make sure you are an Administrator])
