    How to maintain selected columns in Win Explorer?

    .For instance, I always want to have the Rating column for folders with images. However, even after applying in properties, the Rating column still goes away after that.

    Any workaround?

    You also need to apply this -

    File explorer,
    [after having set it as a Picture** folder type as shown in your diagram, select the folder you have prepared as your template of how you want these folders to appear],
    select the View menu,
    click on Options at the right-hand end,
    in the Folder options dialog that appears, select its View tab,
    click on Apply to folders.

    All folders of this type will now appear the way you have set that sample folder up.
    - You have only to use Customise to choose the relevant folder type for any chosen folder, as shown in your diagram, to make it appear the same way.
    - Windows does make fairly intelligent decisions about folder types on its own but it sometimes gets it wrong.
    {In many audio folders I have photos of bands, documents listing tour dates, perhaps a video of a live performance. So I cannot assume Windows will always realise that I want them to be audio folders, particularly if I've put the documents or videos in the folder before the music files.}

    ** You'll need to repeat the procedure for any others that you want to set up - General items, Documents, Music, Video.
