Windows 10 - Loading screen always stuck after update.

Hi all,
I've had my laptop for five months now. Every windows update I have ever tried to install would result in being stuck on the loading screen in an infinite loop. This eventually leads to me having to system restore (sometimes with success) otherwise reset the PC to it's default state. This is incredibly frustrating, and now my app store throws me an error saying that I need to update my windows in order to update my apps.

Is there a way I can update my windows successfully? Let me know the details I need to provide - and I apologise if this is in the wrong section :)

My windows version number is: 1909 (OS Build 18363.720). The updates pending are in attachements below along with my system information.

You can try
Reset Windows Update in Windows 10

How much free space do you have on c: ?

Please run
chkdsk c: /scan
from an admin command or Powershell prompt and advise the summary outcome.

If ok, likewise run
SFC SCANNOW
and advise the summary outcome.

If those pass, run the Windows Update troubleshooter and post a screenshot of the outcome.

Thanks for answering me - the first scan resulted in "Windows has scanned the file system and found no problems.
No further action is required." the second scan gave the following "There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again."

I guess my next step is to fix this sytem repair pending.

If that doesn't find anything, and I think you've said you already reset pc, sounds like more than once, I would be considering a Clean install with newly created media.


You also said this is new device and as such under warranty. I would be calling the store and or the manufacture and getting this issue logged. You don't want to void warranty so you can ask them if a clean install would void.


I'm not familiar with TotalAV, or any other tools you maybe be running but I would not install any 3rd party tools should you reset or clean install ( by clean I mean delete partitions). Test for a period of time and re-introduce slowly.


Actually I might unload all the 3rd party tools, (AV's, cleaners, privacy, etc) and then do an inplace repair and monitor.

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

AV's have interfered with major updates in the past and MS recommends removal before upgrading. These look like everyday updates but worth ruling out.

If you use 1909 media the inplace repair will be an upgrade. If you use media from your current version it will be a repair.
