Where are the old Control Panel items?

Does anyone know how i can get the old Control Panel applets/menus in Windows 10 like Display and Default Programs? I know how to get the old Personalisation settings, i just wondered where the rest of the Control Panel pages have gone. Also btw sorry for the terrible username i don't know how to change it.

Choose "view by" small icons or large icons. Upper right of window.

That shows all the items available, and if there is one that i wanted to go to, it redirects me to the ugly settings app, which i don't want. I wanna see the items hidden since the Creators and Anniversary updates. Windows 10 has a lot of "removed" stuff that is actually hidden in the shell, like HomeGroup.

I'm afraid Settings is the future and you'll have to get used to it.

Since W10 was first launched, each new version has migrated more 'control panel' functions into Settings, then a few versions later removed/disabled them in Control Panel. Settings should be your first port of call now, and will redirect you to the Control Panel functions through an 'advanced settings' link only when more control is needed than Settings currently provides.

For access to all that's now left of Control Panel, try 'God mode'...

This tutorial will show you how to create or download a Control Panel All Tasks (aka "God mode") shortcut in Windows 10.

Windows 10 has a lot of "removed" stuff that is actually hidden in the shell, like HomeGroup.

Homegroup is not just removed from Control Panel, it has been completely removed from the OS. The current version of Windows 10 does not support the use of Homegroups.

Put control in the Search box on the Taskbar, will show Control Panel as first on the list. Then what I do is open it and while open right-click its icon on the Taskbar then choose to Pin it, stays there after closed.

I also have found hidden items in control panel with WinAero Tweaker, and the only good one i found was the Taskbar icon settings.

Ugly? I definitely prefer the new look, but ignoring my taste and being objective, I see no evidence that one look is 'amazing' and the other 'ugly'.

I came from 29 years of Apple. What is 'ugly' to me is that Windows 10 was released with two settings apps on the same OS. I kept wondering why the hell the new settings app would open the old settings. One of the world's richest companies releases and new OS that... sorry kids... isn't even finished in the most basic ways?

You have to understand we're coming up on the five year mark of Windows 10. By the time they finally turn off the control panel, get this -- Windows 10x is looming. An entire new OS. Again.

I just read a brand new article today imploring Microsoft to release it ready instead of working on basics for the next five years.

Windows 10X needs to be perfect if it's launching first on laptops | Windows Central

I know 'new' can be annoying when you feel like you just mastered the 'old'. And sometimes change for change's sake can be extremely annoying. I don't believe the settings app was changed for kicks. I believe the goal was to make it more usable in touchscreen scenarios, which by the by -- was another area Windows 10 said... sorry kids... maybe later we'll address that.

(Once Steve Jobs passed away I noticed Tim Cook was putting his name on Mac OS. The changed the name of the OS. Took away features, added features. But many were change for change's sake. I found most of the 'new' features cutesy instead of solutions. For the most part Windows 10 has been smarter this way, except when they tried to force 3D modeling on all of us.)

I honestly prefer the Classic Shell (not the program, the actual Windows Shell) design over the Metro app aesthetic. The removal of Classic Theme in Windows 8 was really stupid imo. I hate everything to do with Flat Design

Finding the old settings via third party tweak app and getting them to work right are two different things. As noted Microsoft removed it in the 1803 update.

And, yeah, it's not the Control Panel of Windows 7days, such is life; but if you need to find a Setting, search works very well. God Mode also works and can be added to your Context menu via this tweak - Add Control Panel to Context Menu in Windows 10

You'll find left-over references to Homegroup even in the current version 1909, such as...
