    Invisible taskbar icons and cannot Unpin from taskbar

    I have 2 apps (E-Mail and Edge) in taskbar that doesn't shows icons. It is so annoying that I cannot even Unpin from taskbar.

    I have done following without helping:

    * Uninstalled and Installed the app again
    * Unpined from Startmenu
    * Deleted %AppData%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar\*
    * Deleted HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Taskband
    * Killed explorer.exe

    Ver. 1909 Build 18363.778

    Mouse over Edge

    Right click Edge or E-mail. Its not even show the rest of the popup menu. Just the Unpin menu and it doesn't even work.

    If you create a new user for test purposes and log in as that user do you see the same thing?

    History: (Most posters omit this)

    When did this start?

    Sorry for late answer.
    I created a new Test user and after log in, the new Test user has the same issue. But instead of the Email, there was MS Store app pinned that cannot seen the icon and not even unpinn from task bar.

    Hello, you haven't said when this started. Therefore:

    If this started since you upgraded to 1909, then you can try an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs and data and most settings. Tutorial available if needed.

    Remember you start this having logged in as normal, and can do this with a 1909 iso file.

    It has been so long that I am almost forget when it started. Properly from 1909. Omg, I am so not into upgarde. Usually my Windows PCs goes over years without any problem with OS (I don't even turned it off) until I changed the whole PC.
    I don't know if I dare to in-place upgrade!?

    Here's how you secure your PCs state- and should be doing so routinely anyway- so often recommended here.

    Use disk imaging routinely. That's a compressed copy of the used part of the partitions or disks you have imaged. You can image all partitions comprising Windows as one choice. Thus you can restore Windows to a previous good state
    - if your disk fails
    - your Windows becomes corrupt or unbootable
    - an upgrade goes badly wrong
    - your PC is stolen

    and it gives you a full backup.

    Do that and update it before any major change - save disk images to external storage.

    An in-place upgrade repair install takes you BACK in build number within a major build, corrects services, drivers, some registry keys.

    Often used, usually perfectly successful.

    No guarantees as to whether it will fix your problem of course.
