Laptop wakes from sleep - help!

I"ve been trying to figure this out for such a long time and I'm losing my mind. The short version is that my computer, like my kid, seems to wake up from sleep all the time and if on AC, just runs and runs and runs with the lid closed and gets really hot and the fan makes a lot of noise. If on battery, it just runs until it dies. Either way, I think my battery is at like 30% capacity from all the cycles. Really unfortunate.

I've been reading lots of blog articles and there's lots of suggestions, but I can't seem to find a solution. All I know is that I've set my power plan to not wake for timers on battery and only important timers for AC. I've run a sleep study and it looks like this keeps coming up:

"Timer - Windows will execute 'NT TASK\Microsoft\Windows\UpdateOrchestrator\Unversal Orchestrator Start' scheduled task that request waking the computer.

When I go into the Task Scheduler (Local) > Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > UpdateOrchestrator, I see some task name but no "Orchestrator Start".

I don't know if that's even the problem, but now my laptop has about 30 minutes of battery time and keeps running on most nights. Can someone help me figure this out? I'm decently tech savvy, but I don't really know my way around CMD prompts and that kind of thing.

Troubleshooting sleep issues should have the old Dante-an sign above its door reading "Abandon all hope ye who enter here." So before we start trying to chase this one down, how about just shutting down when you stop using the computer? If that's possible, you won't have to wrestle with the many causes of sleep- and wake-related issues that we could decide to dive into. What do you say to that @keliason?

Yeah, I know it's a harrowing journey into this issue, however I really want to get it figured out. Many times I need to quickly leave for the night and I want to keep my apps open and my web browser open with articles that are left off. I know that it's the only sure-fire answer, but surely I can look into it a bit right?

    This is an easy fix.
    Simply disable wake up timers.

(disable it for both plugged in and battery)

OK, then: do you not want it to sleep at all? What is your ideal machine state? You might want to try @boombastik's suggestion.

UpdateOrchestrator is a task from windows that wake up computer from sleep to make actions. It uses wake up timer. Simply you disable wake up timers in power option and the sleep will work as intended.
Newer computers have this option also in bios.

Good answer, @boombastik. Still trying to get OP to say what he/she really wants to do, sleep-wise.
    Thanks,

Thanks Boombastik. I've disabled them for on battery and I still have the issue if it's not plugged in, so I'm doubtful that this will also fix it for plugged in. But I'll give it a shot. (Often, if I put it in sleep mode while traveling and leave it on my desk on battery, it drains and crashes over night even if it was at full charge.)

Ed - I'm trying to get my laptop in a place where I can put it in sleep mode and it sleeps without waking itself up - whether or not it's on battery or AC. Super simple.

@keliason: yes, it sounds simple enough. Hopefully, @boombastik's suggestions will do the trick. If not, please check out the BusinessNewsDaily article I linked a few items back, or check out the results of this TenForums search on "Windows 10 sleep."
HTH, and good luck. With time and tinkering, you can get it sorted.
