    Windows Explorer Window: Can't resize it.

    Hi, I'm having a really hard time with my Windows Explorer Window. It's stuck in maximum mode but I can minimize. The problem is I can't use the arrows to change the size of the window. Any help would be appreciated. I'm working with Windows 10.

    Is it Maximized or Full Screen? They are different things where Maximum is the middle icon in the top right corner and Full Screen is toggles On or Off with the F11 key. Some keyboards use the Fn + F11 while some may use on the F11. Full Screen hides toolbars and other things, nice for gaming, videos, etc.

    Added: what I described applies to all program windows, not just File Explorer [renamed from earlier Windows Explorer].

    are you referring to the double headed arrows you get when when the cursor is used to drag the margin of the window, or the keyboard arrow keys to use the keyboard to resize the window?

    The window is maximized. I still have the taskbar showing. And the arrows are double headed ones to drag the margin.

    @BEN1972

    You can use the info in the following link as a temporary measure until the problem is solved.

    Running SFC /Scannow in an administrative command prompt would be a good idea. If any unfixed problems are reported, run: Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth in administrator command prompt.

    After DISM reports all files are ok, run SFC /SCANNOW 2 more times.

    I tried the menu

    Hi Gary, I tried the menu choices like move, size etc. but the only one that I can use is minimize. The other choices are greyed out. I'll try the other idea. Thank you for replying.

    Strongly suggest that you run SFC /Scannowin an administrative command prompt.

    Re-installing your system files doing an upgrade repair might be the simplest way to go.

    Just to make sure.

    Hi Gary, just to be clear, if I do the reinstall I will not lose any music, games, or any other program files I've downloaded?

    I suggest that you do a full backup or clone first, just in case. Macrium, Aomei, or Easeus all make good backup programs.

    Follow the tutorial carefully.

    (after thought)
    I'm not sure that all third party Programs will work properly afterword, but I don't recall ever a problem doing it.
