In Onedrive cloud all my photos have lost the folder hierarchy

Hi Newbie here after searching for help on your forum.

    I am running window 10 ver. 1903 64 bit.

I had all of my photos in the Pictures folder on my PC in in seperate folders showing when they were taken and location for retrieval purposes.

I decided to use Onedrive to upload them to the cloud for safe keeping and then, foolishly, deleted the pictures folder and hierarchy from my PC. Now, when I view the photos on Onedrive as they are not on my PC, I have them listed by date but all of the folder hierarchy has disappeared. How can I get the folder hierarchy back?

    Anyone any ideas to help?

    Many thanks,

    JLD

Have you checked the recycle bin? Unless you permanently deleted or ran a cleaner they should be there.

Sorry I can't answer question on OneDrive.

I will ask, did you upload them, log into OneDrive and click upload, or did you setup one drive and sync them?

Choose Folders for OneDrive Selective Sync in Windows 10

I've uploaded files by going to Onedrive and clicking upload. That is different than the above tutorial. (At the bottom of the tutorial are links to related OneDrive tutorials.)

You can create folders at will and move the photos between them either in the OneDrive folder on your PC which is synced with the cloud or log in to OneDrive on the web and do the same there.

    Hi both,

Thanks both for the informative replies.

I'd trawled through a few sites and with the help of your replies, I re-created a pictures folder into my desktop. Joy of joys! It re-populated from the Onedrive cloud and re-installed the file hierarchy!

After looking at many ways of moving the pictures folder into my Onedrive folder on the PC, I found that I had somehow moved the pictures folder into a sub folder which is why I couldn't find it.

Job done - my thanks to you both.
