Hi, I'm Sidney. Mac user 1986-1999 then switched to Windows NT. Discovered sevenforums a long time ago -- now we're here. I've used stackoverflow, superuser, reddit and subscribe to a few tech blogs. I like the feeling of this forum.
Hi there folks. Longtime listener first time poster. I'm an old hand - I started paid work in 1970 on an ICT machine using 40 column punch cards. ICT became IBM. As life progressed so did the equipment and programs, getting made redundant mid '90s gave me enough funds to purchase a home PC which was essential for searching & applying for new roles. Since then I've not been without a personal machine used both for fun and working from home when physical limitations prevented me commuting. I retired toward the end of 2018 but am active on-line multiple times daily. Currently on my 2nd laptop a fairly basic HP with MSW10 installed, my preferred browser is Chrome but use Firefox occasionally. We live in the Matamata-Piako region of New Zealand (not so far from the famous Hobbiton) so my awake times are quite different to the rest of the world.
Welcome (to posting, that is)
Lot's of us retirees here. I remember punched cards, my first (well, only) formally taught programming language was Fortan at Uni, using punched cards. My first personal PC was an IBM PC-AT being thrown out at work in the early 90's. But I had been using them at work for some time before that. For me redundancy switched my career path into IT Support.
Don't worry about the time differences, lot's of us UK members tend to be nightowls, and it's currently late afternoon/early evening across the US.
