Hi, Buddy here. First Post to forem. From Jersey Village, TX RetiredVolunteer EMT at local Fire Department for past 10 years. Have worked in technology since late sixties. Moved from mainframes to PCs, Consultant in Utility Industry for many years. Still dabble some with personal PC. It is fair to say, that I have not kept as current with technology in the last few years.

My current issue is with Win 10 OS Security. I have downloaded an application install file for Crypto currency wallet which provides the following error "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file".I have notified the vendor about the issue and his reply is: "Could you check if there is any antivirus software that blocks the wallet from running?" -- I have turned OFF Windows Defender Antivirus, and repeated with same error. The folder and file properties have "FULL Control" Access, e.g. ..\DOWNLOAD directory. I have full control as Administrator. I am not sure where to go next???

That is most likely due to Windows Security's Ransomware Protection. The Controlled Folder Access is blocking it from writing to a protected folder. If you are sure you trust the application then you could allow it through controlled folder access.

Add or Remove Allowed Apps for Controlled Folder Access in Windows 10

    Hi All!

Hi everyone! New to the forum, found it trying to find a solution to my BSODs which are constant and driving me crazy! Just posted there, so I thought I'd post here and say hi too.

I'm definitely a computer geek and savvy enough to be dangerous. I'm not developer level knowledgeable, but I am tech support for most of my friends and family. I started dabbling in Linux a bit earlier this year to get my 10+ yr old laptop off Win 7 after EOL. Comfortable enough to do that, but there are definitely things about it that push my boundaries. (Always a good idea, right!)

After years of wanting to build a PC, I built my first one to replace my cable box and be my cable DVR a little more than 6 years ago. It ran Windows 7 and Windows Media Center and was a stud that performed flawlessly for that whole time. I was really happy with it! Building that was a lot of fun, and I'm sure I'll do many more over the years. Windows 7 EOL forced me to move onto Win 10, which motivated me to upgrade the hardware. That was back in March. The system worked well for about the first 5 days, and a random month + since. Outside of that, endless BSODs which occasionally prevent it from coming back online. Missed recordings and an inability to watch OTA TV ensue. Now with football seson starting, I really need it to be reliable. The wife is less than pleased I hope I can get it stable soon.

I've loved the whole process through both builds. Its been a lot of fun, but these crashes are taking all of my fun away! Hopefully I can get back to enjoying it.

Well there's my novel! Looking forward to being involved here on the forum, hopefully I'm smart enough to help solve someone's problems.
