Task Bar or Something Else - Help Needed

Before the Corona virus outbreak I was using a 23" Monitor. But this monitor has a broken power supply, and there is no chance to repair or buy a new monitor. Computers are non-essential business for Covid-19. Mail Order too. Everything under shutdown. So my only choice is to lug my TV monitor 50" into my office every time I need to use my computer (all day long).

The TV has max resolution 1920x1280 and the monitor was less. So I'm not getting anything fitting well on this larger screen. I've been slowing working thru all the problems, most I have to reset after I turn the computer off/on. But there is one thing bugging me more than any other. It's the task bar. I've played around with the task bar settings, and got them to the point where I like what I have. But there is one HUGE problem. I can only see the approx top third of the task bar and it extends further than the screen ends (horizontally). The task bar is approx 30% full and it is on 1 line. Small icons.

I've tried all that I know to reset these taskbar settings. To no avail. So I'm beginning to think it MIGHT not be in the task bar settings, but maybe some screen settings or resolution problem is what I need. Any and all help gratefully received. Win10.

OK. I was just able to lift the top level of the task bar by dragging it up. Will it stay like that from now on? This is better than before. The task bar is about twice the height as before. I can see all the icons I've added manually to the task bar. But the computer related icons on the left and right in white on the black background, look crunched up, horizontally. They were spread out evenly before I doubled the height of the task bar. Before they looked ok, although I could only see the top third. It now looks almost as if there isn't enough space horizontally for them on 1 line. But I have no idea if these left and right parts can be widened. Which looks like it might do the trick for me. This would suggest to me that widening the left/right sections of the taskbar would help. Although I have no idea if that is possible.

Another problem. Whilst playing with this task bar whilst writing this. It has jumped back to the 1 line task bar (which looks better) but with 50-66% hidden below the bottom of the screen.

All my task bar settings are all Off except Small Task Bar Buttons.

Hi, not all delivery services seem to have closed- you might yet be lucky with ebay or even Amazon.. I saw a DPD van yesterday, and the Royal Mail delivers.

The shops that are open from Poundland to B&M don't seem to include any likely to sell those.

You could try making sure it doesn't autohide, and lock the taskbar when in the correct position.

Or rt click on the taskbar, click Lock...

Adding the Address Toolbar increases the visibility height of the Tool bar. Which makes me think it is a screen visibility problem. Not the tool bar itself. How to adjust the resolution size of the screen?

OK. I'm pretty sure the problem is not with the task bar itself. Because I see stuff flowing over the edge of all 4 sides of the screen. For example. On my Desktop, if I move an icon too close to the top of the screen, it gets the top half of the icon not showing and only the bottom half shows on the screen. So I think the screen size is bigger than the screen itself. I think I'm seeing the same phenomenon with the task bar at the bottom of the screen. It's cutting off the bottom third of the task bar, as well as some information on the right of the task bar as well. If I can fix this, I think my task bar will fall into line.

My display settings are 100% (150% Recommended),1920x1080 (Recommended), Landscape. I chose 100% to reduce the size of the icons on the Desktop.

My Intel Iris Graphics Control Panel setting are 1920x1080, Refresh Rate=59 Hz, Scaling=Maintain Display Scaling (alternative options, Maintain Aspect Ratio, Scale Full Screen, Center Image, Customize Aspect Ratio) Picture Aspect Ratio=16:9

All of which appear normal to my untrained eye. Does anybody have any suggestions how to get all of what is trying to be displayed on the screen, actually to be shrunk marginally to fit on the screen size.

And one last thing. When I maximize my browser, it goes bigger than the size of the screen. It doesn't just snugly fit to the screen size.

Any tech Gurus here who recognize this problem?

I'm beginning to think it's nothing to do with any setting on your PC. It may be a setting on the TV that needs changing. What make and model of TV do you have? My Panasonic Viera has a setting called '16:9 overscan' which is turned on by default.

Did you know that by default, most TVs cut off the extreme edges of the picture, zooming it slightly and potentially softening the image? Make sure your TV is showing the entire image it should with this one adjustment...

...If you're using your TV as a computer monitor, overscan is a very big deal. I've had TVs chop off most of the menu bar, and have scaling make text hard to read.

@dalchina - Thank you for your suggestions. I was nervous about downloading/installing some software which can be used to do a lot of things other than to fix my resolution problem. Especially with one comment that the users password had changed. I definitely could not handle that if happened to me. Although nobody else reported that. So unlikely :) The link to the Microsoft was pretty much useless. So still looking. See below.
@Bree - This Overscan kinda helped to put me in the right direction

So I went back to my Intel Iris Graphics Control Panel. I tried every option again. And wouldn't you just know it was the very last option not originally selected, Customize Aspect Ratio. Which I had tried several time before. However what had mislead me was my previous reading up on this issue was that I'd understood this difference between the display size and the actual screen size was going to actually be quite small. So when I reduced this to 95% height and width, I saw no difference. Also at 90%. So gave up. Then just now, I decided to try again with 80%. I saw some difference. At 70% it was just about right. GREAT! I just had to squash the task bar down to 1 line, and now everything seems to be the same as before. Even my browser extends to the correct size when maximized :)I thank you all for your help and support. I'll leave this thread open for another 24 hrs before closing it.
