Windows 10 Temp folder filling up with thousands of files

I have been having issues with the Disk going to 100% and basically making my Windows 10 system (Version 1903 OS Build 18362.720) unusable.

I tried many many potential solutions to no avail. Search the internet many times.

I notice when I ran antivirus scan, the disk usage would drop to normal but it would go back to 100% usage somewhere between a few minutes and a few hours.

Playing around, noticed that the Temp direct was jammed with thousands of files. Clearing them out also made the disk usage light go out and the system would work fine for awhile, until the temp directory filled back up.

Some of the files were as follows:
    dd_vs_setup_bootstrapper_decompression_log
    mat-debug-184
    18e190413af045db88dfbd29609eb877.db.ses

and dozens of folders filled with files.

Any suggestion would be deeply appreciated, as this has been sticking me for months now. Many Thanks in advance. Frank

    Additional Information
    Another file is
    dd_vs_setup_bootstrapper_decompression_log, which contains the following:

I do not have Office 360 and the solution given is to delete the files. That is not a fix. I am constantly deleting the files and want to stop them from being written since they are in the thousands. Thanks

I would suggest to get Process explorer and check what process write those files. If it's the same as other examples on net, then it is Officehub.

Check if you have something called Office among the apps.

A lot of users saying that booting to Safe mode, running cleaner, reboot to normal solve the problem.

Start msconfig, and set to boot in safe mode (minimal), restart and run diskcleaner, then delete everything in Temp folder, run msconfig and set to boot in normal mode.

Windows disk cleanup. Click start and type cleanup. Not CCleaner

What you are describing may be a new kind of virus. From my experience, temp files are used en-masse only when a new application is installed, or is upgraded. Just random files filling up your temp directory for no real reason - may be a virus...

So yes.... try to find any and all reputable anti-virus / anti-malware i.e. malwarebytes / type program... If all of the free ones don't help, consider shelling out some money to purchase Norton or something.

    Good Luck.

Download AdWareCleaner Download AdwCleaner to your desktop

Using AdwCleaner is very simple. Simply download the program and run it. You will then be presented with a screen that contains a Scan and Clean button. The Scan button will cause AdwCleaner to search your computer for unwanted programs and then display all the files, folders, and registry entries found on your computer that are used by adware programs.

When the scan has finished, look through the scan results and uncheck any entries that you do not wish to remove. When you are satisfied with the selection, simply click on the Clean button, which will cause AdwCleaner to reboot your computer and remove the files and registry entries associated with the various adware that you are removing. On reboot, AdwCleaner will display a log showing the files, folders, and registry entries that were removed.

Please copy and paste that log back here.

Yes I do have Process Monitor, which shows the dd_BackgroundDownload files are created by BackgroundDownload, which I think is a Visual Studio process. I'll research that. I think it ha ssomething to do with Expression Web. At least those files.
