How to display Chinese characters in an English version of Windows PE.

I have a bootable "Bob.Omb’s Modified Win10PEx64" USB device. It does not support Chinese characters, which will be displayed as junk characters. Is it possible to make it support Chinese?

Matt, There are many premade WinPE ISO's on the Internet - All pretty much follow the same Builder Method....
The Chinese character set would have to be integrated into the boot.wim - this is usually done at the time of build...
You have now gone from building your own WinPE Media to Modifying a Premade ISO - For which the Premade ISO was created using the same method of Project Development..... Bob.Omb has a thread here regarding the same ISO, But have not seen him around in the Project Development Forums for a long time...

Do you mean it is impossible to modify "boot.wim"? I just found the following article:

You could try adding these fonts to mounted pe :
    meiryo.ttc
    msgothic.ttc
    malgun.ttf
    msjh.ttc
    msyh.ttc
    simsun.ttc
and load pe software hive as pe-software. Then merge this reg file OLFS-SOFTWARE-win10-PE.zip

    Code:
    Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.18362.30]
    (c) 2019 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

    C:\Windows\system32>(bcdedit)|Find "locale"
    locale en-us
    locale en-us
I am running an English version of Windows, on which Chinese characters can be displayed. May I assume that Chinese character sets exist somewhere on my Windows?

Copy them from your win10 installtion, or extract from win10 installation media. For Korean, you might want gulim.ttc as well

For zh-cn, zh-hk,zh-tw I think these might be enough:
    msjh.ttc
    msyh.ttc
    simsun.ttc

The reg file linked in my previous post needs to be merged into pe-software hive

Would you be so kind as to tell me where they are?

They are in the \windows\fonts folder, shockingly enough.

The foregoing is an adaptation of what I do when making win7 pe.

I can't tell you any more than that. That will get you most of the way. If anything else is needed, you will have to figure it yourself.

The above is for traditional Chinese characters.
The following are for simplified Chinese characters.

Hopefully, I will find more tomorrow.
