laptop not behaving as power > battery settings mean it should

    W10 Pro
    V 1903
    OS build 18362.720

I have my power > battery settings set up as:

low battery level - 20% with notifications turned on
critical battery level - 10% also with notifications turned on

    see attached screenshots

BUT, if I'm on battery the only notification I get is immediately before the laptop goes into sleep mode....literally 2 seconds! If i'm not quick enough to plug in the power lead then I have to wait for it to go into sleep then wake it again. i.e. it's not behaving as it should with the settings I have

Not a terrible problem, as all my work's still there when it comes out of sleep, but very annoying & time wasting!

Any thoughts on why this is happening & how to make it do what I've set it up for?

    TIA

Hi Jeffsk. Welcome to the Tenforums @Jeffsk

Are you seeing the Low battery alert at 20% or just the Critical at 10%.

    How old is the battery?

My experience is that older batteries don't drain like newer batteries. When they get low their power levels drop very quickly.

This is currently happening with my iphone. Once I get to 15% if I don't plug in immediately the device will abruptly shut off very quickly.
