Pictures and Downloads folders disappeared after changing the location

    Hello,

I just got a new PC, and moved my second drive from my old PC into it. This contains my pictures and downloads. I also added a couple of folders to my user folder (C:\Users\MyName\), and copied the data from my old PC.

I right-clicked on the Pictures folder in my user folder, chose Properties, clicked the Locations tab, then clicked the Move button and picked the pictures folder on my second drive. I did the same for downloads.

However, these two folders have now disappeared from my user folder. If I look in This PC, the two folders are there, but then the extra folders I added to my user folder aren't.

Is there a way of seeing all my folders, ie the ones I didn't move (documents), the ones I did move (pictures and downloads) as well as the ones I added?

    Thanks

    I'm running Win10 Pro x64 version 1909 (OS Build 18363.752)

Did you check the Tutorial section on this forum for the process?

Nope, because I did a quick search, and found no end of articles explaining how to do this. They all said the same, which is what I did.

I just checked the tutorials, and couldn't see one that covered this anyway. Did I miss something?

    Thanks for the reply.

Just did another search, and the tutorial here came up. It showed the same procedure as I followed.

Do you still have the link you used? Seeing exactly the same page you saw would be helpful.

This one wasn't the exact one I saw (can't remember which it was), but it shows the same procedure...

Move Location of Downloads Folder in Windows 10

Update: As it happens, I think the one I found was this one, but again, it shows the same procedure.

    Your description is confusing:
However, these two folders have now disappeared from my user folder. If I look in This PC, the two folders are there,
Do you mean 'pictures' and 'downloads'? If so, then (AIUI) that is correct - they have moved to your second drive - I have relocated docs, pics, d'loads, movies & music, and none are now seen under my user folder (c:\users\...), but are all under This PC.

    As for
but then the extra folders I added to my user folder aren't.
Aren't in 'This PC'? Well, why would they be - they aren't special, so are (presumably) still sitting in c:\users\...

    I think we need a screen-shot.

Hmm, I'm even more confused now! I just went to File Explorer to take a screenshot, and the missing folders have now appeared under my username!

Thinking about it, I moved the Music folder the other day, and it disappeared, only to reappear about 15 minutes later. It looks like these two have done the same.

Thanks anyway, but it seems to have sorted itself out.
