How to take a screenshot of my desktop?

This is probably a simple thing but I just cannot figure out how to do this? Bitdefender AV are asking for a screenshot of my desktop, and I have no idea how to capture this. I'm not exactly a graphics techie. Sorry if this is a simple solution. But I have no idea how to do this. Win10 64bit.

Personally I prefer a third party screen capture software called Lightshot but there are many others.

I just simply hit the Print Screen button on my keyboard and then paste it in to MS Paint and edit/crop it to what I want.

I've gotten quite comfortable with Snippy and now its replacement of Snip and Sketch, enough so I pin to the Taskbar, easier that remembering the shortcut keys.

    What mine is:

Snippy and Snip and Sketch are 12 & 13 respectively to the right from and counting the Start button. Most times I open a program and if desired right-click its icon on the Taskbar and choose Pin to taskbar, remains there after closing the program or I delete it.

    What are they looking for?

An additional option is to open file explorer > this PC > local disk (C:) > Users > (selected users name) > Desktop > highlight any row > click select all > click copy to or use snipping tool
