    Windows 10 Power Icon Missing In System Tray Often After System Boot?

    Hello!

    I am having an issue with my Windows 10 Power Icon in my System Tray. FYI, I am running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit on a Lenovo Think Pad T510 laptop PC. Everything is to factory spec. except I have recently increased the memory to 8GB or 2x4GB memory modules from 4GB. I have researched this issue and found a few solutions from others who have had similar issues from various online websites. However, no one addresses this issue after it often recures following a system boot/start. After some testing, I have it down to this:

    1. There are random times the power icon will show up in the system tray and there are times it will not after system boot/start. However, I would say more often not showing that showing the power icon.
    2. The only solution I found that works is temporary meaning if I reboot or restart the PC, in many cases the power icon will not show in the system tray. I will have to redo the only solution to show the power icon.
    3. A TEMPORARY SOLUTION FIX: If I go to the "Device Manager" and disable "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" and then immediately enable it, the power icon will immediately show in the system tray. This has been 100% successful during a session while my PC is running. Again, if I reboot or restart, more often than not, the power icon will not show up in the system tray.
    4. BEFORE the temporary fix: I have found the "Power" icon under "Settings" -> "Personalization" -> "Taskbar" -> "Notification area" -> "Turn system icons on or off" -> "Power" (toggle switch) -> the only listed icon that is ON listed that is grayed-out.
    5. BEFORE the temporary fix: I have found the "Power" icon under "Settings" -> "Personalization" -> "Taskbar" -> "Notification area" -> "Select which icons appear in the taskbar" -> "Power" (toggle switch) -> a listed icon that is ON.
    6. AFTER the temporary fix: I have found the "Power" icon under "Settings" -> "Personalization" -> "Taskbar" -> "Notification area" -> "Turn system icons on or off" -> "Power" (toggle switch) -> a listed icon that is ON. NOTE: A CHANGE WHERE THE "POWER" ICON IS NO LONGER GRAYED-OUT AND IS ACTIVELY SHOWN.
    7. AFTER the temporary fix: I have found the "Power" icon under "Settings" -> "Personalization" -> "Taskbar" -> "Notification area" -> "Select which icons appear in the taskbar" -> "Power" (toggle switch) -> a listed icon that is ON. NOTE: NO CHANGE -- SAME AS BEFORE TEMPORARY FIX - ACTIVELY SHOWN.

    OBJECTIVE: What I want is NOT having to go to the "Device Manager" and disable "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" and then immediately enable it EVERY TIME I want to see the Power icon showing in the Windows 10 system tray often following a system boot/start. When I start or boot my PC, I want the Power icon showing in the system tray on its own loading every time.

    I have supplied some photos to this OP for your assistance with the issue.

    Please provide some reasons why and how the Power icon is not showing in the system tray after PC boot/start and solutions on how I can have the Power icon showing in the system tray on its own loading every time.

    Thank you very much!

    Hi, just wondering- have you tried turning off Fast Startup (if enabled)?

    You might also experiment with Method 2 here as you have Pro:

    I get the same problem sometimes usually after installing/ uninstalling third party software that created a system tray icon.

    I usually run these two scripts with a reboot.

    Rebuild Icon Cache in Windows 10

    Sometimes I kill explorer and manually delete the files using another utility.

    Then:

    Reset Notification Area Icons in Windows 10

    Wait for the scipt to complete and you should see a reboot prompt. On my machine it can take a while before the prompt appears.

    Hello again. It is time to reply now to these latest responses. I replying now to give you some of my lastest results from what you have given me initially so we can come to a solution faster.

    @dalchina:

    Thank you for your continued help. I have tried your potential solutions in your weblink Method 2. I did not want to respond too soon until I tested your potential solutions and give it a few days and see how Windows 10 responds. I performed both parts of Method 2 in that weblink. I modified a system registry following Method 2 anyways even though I have Pro and I know I can just use Group Policy Editor. So I followed both parts in Method 2 (just to be certain) and discovered in the last couple of days when I boot and start Windows 10 -- it is about 50/50 or half the time power icon shows up in the system tray. In my research, before I posted this issue here on TenForums, I never saw this webpage you provided. It looked like a good potential solution, but it is still having issues. In terms of stopping Fast Startup, I really hate to do that. Before I upgraded this Windows 10 Pro 64-bit from Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, it would take about 8 minutes on average from the pressing of the power button to the last loading of a program or process on the desktop. It was painfully slow! I dreaded it! With this Windows 10's Fast Startup, I LOVE IT! It only takes about 2 minutes total time to be finished! That is a nice thing with Windows 10! I guess I can test it by turning off Fast Startup, but I will not like that and hate to give Fast Startup up! I will get back to you on that. Oh, let me add that in terms of the other icons loading in the system tray (with the Fast Startup on), they are and have been consistent every time on loading! The only icon is that power icon that is random on loading at startup.

    @Callender:

    Hello! Nice to meet you! Thanks for your reply. You have some interesting potential solutions too! I will get back in touch with you on them as well soon. I usually need in many cases a few days of testing to verify if your potential solution works or not. Thank you for your patience!

    Thank you for your continued help!

    Stay safe and healthy!

    If it's going to work it should work straight away after a reboot. On my machine the problem only rarely appears after uninstalling third party software and then only on a few occasions.

    I don't know if you fixed the problem. Anyway - just to point out that I had the same problem again after installing software to test, then uninstalling it. I even did a manual registry cleanup to remove a few of the app's leftovers.

    None of the usual fixes worked:

    Fix – Missing Power / Battery Icon in Windows 10

    I don't recommed SFC/ Scannow though if you've made any tweaks.

    What did work?

    Boot into Safe Mode and run the scripts linked in Post#3
