Newly-Made Icons Disappear Upon Rebooting Laptop
I am running Windows 10 Home Edition, version 1809, on an HP laptop.
1. Went to Wells Fargo’s (as an example) website, then dragged the URL onto my desktop. This gave me a shortcut without an icon. Good, so far.
2. Next, I went to Google and typed “Wells Fargo favicon,” and clicked on ‘Images.’
3. When I found the favicon that I wanted, I then copied and pasted it onto my desktop as a jpeg.
4. Next, I used Pixillion Image Converter to convert the jpeg of the favicon into an ‘ICO’ format.
5. Then I went to the newly-minted ‘iconless’ shortcut, clicked on ‘Properties,’ ‘Change Icon,’ browsed to my newly-converted icon, selected it, clicked ‘OK,’ clicked on ‘Apply,’ then clicked ‘OK’ again.
6. The new shortcut appeared just as I wanted with Wells Fargo’s favicon, and took me to their login page. Everything appeared to be working fine.
However, if I now turned my laptop off, then back on again, the shortcut reverts to being a generic, ‘iconless’ one. It still takes me to the webpage, but has no icon.
Any ideas? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
