    Storage - Temporary files = C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download ?

    Win10 Pro x64 Version 1909 OS Build 18363.720
    ======================================
I run Disk Cleanup as admin and I cleaned all windows update components.
Now disk cleanup shows only 17,3MB of disk space I can reclaim.
But System Settings - Storage - Temporary files shows 5,05 GB of disk space !!!
I searched with TreeSizeFree and the only folder with similar size is the "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" folder.

    1. Can anyone confirm this, on his own computer ?
    2. Can I safely delete "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" folder ?

    Thank you.

Click on the "Temporary Files" box highlighted in your first screenshot and you should get a list of locations with options to delete.

The 5.02 GB is somewhere in the windows updates ... but where ?
The only explanation is in the "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" folder.
The above folder can't be cleaned by "Disk Cleanup" but the Windows "Settings-Storage-Temporary files-Updates" shows this reserved space as space that can be cleaned !!

Disk Cleanup will delete downloaded updates store within SoftwareDistribution folder.

Will it clean the "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" folder ?

Because I did a "Disk Cleanup" and I deleted "Windows Update Cleanup" files but there are still 5.02 GB in "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" folder.

Open the Command Prompt as a administrator and execute below commands one at a time.

    Code:
     Net stop wuauserv

     Rd /s /q %SystemRoot%\SoftwareDistribution
    Restart your computer.

FYI: I ran CleanMgr+ (portable freeware)

    Storage - Temporary files = C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download ?-cleanmgr-.jpg

If you've used any utilities to disable/ control windows updates then cleanup won't work.

    Before cleanup:
    Storage - Temporary files = C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download ?-settings.jpg

After cleanup (no updates to remove)

    Storage - Temporary files = C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download ?-settings2.jpg

If I delete the SoftwareDistribution folder, can I still uninstall updates?
