Very strange desktop on completely fresh install

    Hi
I just re-installed win10 pro on to my X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING-CF PC
when it booted to desktop I had several files that I recognised from my old setup on the desktop.
Then I noticed that they seemed to be updating from the cloud as they had the same symbols you get next to onedrive items.
arrows and clouds etc so I checked my onedrive but these particular items were not in onedrive!

So one item was a txt file that was a note from a stickie. So I wondered if the new windows stickies are being stored on the cloud?
the other few items were snip and sketch images that I had taken on my old setup.

So I'm assuming that these are also stored in the cloud.

Can anyone confirm this for me as it was something I was unaware of!

    Thanks

    Mike

Did you do a clean install (complete delete of all partitions on the target system drive)?

Was any other drive/device connected during install?

Did you use a Microsoft account during the installation ?

"Cloud" - Which cloud service? Note that OneDrive auto starts on a new install, sop if you're logged-on with a Microsoft account ....

No I didn't ! I don't re-install often and when I've done it before I remember that you just had to select a drive and it would then warn you that it was going to be formatted. But this time I had to select a partition and the only one it would allow was the windows partition. I was unsure about this but assumed it would all be formatted anyway?
Was any other drive/device connected during install? -- NO

Did you use a Microsoft account during the installation ? YES

"Cloud" - Which cloud service? Note that OneDrive auto starts on a new install, sop if you're logged-on with a Microsoft account ....
I haven't got any cloud service other than OneDrive.

    Thanks
