    Windows 10 install problem

    HI All,

A client gave me their Acer ES 15 laptop because they couldn't remember their logon password and had no means of password recovery. So I did a full reset and reinstall via W10 troubleshooting menu. Client didn't have the charger so the install failed at 64% when the battery had completely discharged.
Client brought charger in today but now the install is stuck in a boot loop. It loads to up to where it left off at 64% yesterday but then immediately restarts. Anyway of forcing it to resume installation or start off another install?
Acer have locked the boot menu in BIOS

Hi, regarding the password you might have considered e.g. Option 2
Reset Password of User Account in Windows 10

Yes, start a new clean install- assuming you can boot from an external medium.

Just a thought- are you certain this is the client's machine?

What do you mean by that? It would be unusual for Acer themselves to lock down the bios, but the client may have set a bios password.

An alternative to changing the boot order in the bios is to keep tapping F12 at a start up from cold, that should bring up a one-time boot device selection menu. The usb will only appear in the list if it was inserted before powering up.
