    Hey syngus21,

I would like to fix the original problem. Foxit Reader works and nothing else has, so I'll use it for now.

Fo a while I thought part of the problem might be that most of my data files are in my OneDrive. I searched for solutions with that as a factor. All my files reside on my computer as well as in the cloud. However, I looked at some PDF's that are not on OneDrive, only local on my C: drive and I had the same issue. A few showed thumbnails but most showed the PDF icon.

Do you have any suggestions on what else to check?

    Thanks,
    Ron

Other than this how to from Adobe - Enable thumbnail preview of PDFs in Windows Explorer. I've no other suggestions as that fix should be working. Why it's not is a mystery.

BTW the image I posted showing the previews in Acrobat is from the folder placed in my OneDrive folder so that's not the issue.

And the link above does apply to Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, so....

Hold on a minute I'm checking into something....

Ok, Go to Start, settings, Apps. In far-left pane click "Default apps". In right pane under "Default apps" click on "Choose default apps by file type" scroll down to .pdf (right pane) and make sure it shows Adobe DC reader or something like that. Since I’m running Adobe Acrobat 2017 that’s what mine shows.

    This shouldn’t make a difference, but….

    Let me know.

Re-associate the file type with something else and back again, refresh the folder; (Adobe takes ages to generate thumbnails in a full folder)

    What's a "full folder"???

Anyway, my dedicated folder with hundreds of PDF files generated images rather quickly. Same goes for the hundreds of thumbnails generated from my various image types - tiff, jpeg, NEF I've installed on my drives. Perhaps because I'm only running SSD drives?

    Anyway here's my PDF associations....

Thanks for the help. That's something I've tried before but I gave it another go. No joy, same old sh*t. Foxit Reader is giving me what I want so I'll run with that a while.
