    Windows 10 Desktop keeps refreshing constantly every 6 secs


    prior to this it was working fine no constant screen refresh or anything. I had my charger in the port charging my laptop it slipped out half way not charging the laptop, the laptop shutdown and when I went to reboot all was normal logged in and the desktop would normally refresh once then stop but now its doing it constantly every 6 secs. I have updated my display drivers uninstalled them, I have update my firmware. I have uninstalled bitdefender, adobe everything. I did go into task manager and stop the Microsoft search something??? when I did that it stopped until it started up again. but then I killed the task and it continued I am about to go buy another pc if this don't stop this is pissing me off. hope anyone can help me I haven't tried to reinstall windows as I am worried it wont help. thank for your time

    Windows can often play around confusingly after it has been fooled by a power adapter or power supply being only partially connected / providing insufficent power.

    I saw similar desktop flickering when I was using a power source that was misbehaving.

    Is the flickering accompanied by the SystemTray ["Notification area"] icon switching from mains powered to battery powered?

    You have done several things already.
    - Have you tried turning Fast start off? Fast Startup - Turn On or Off - TenForumsTutorials
    - Have you done an SFC-DISM check? SFC - TenForumsTutorials
    - Have you done a Repair install [aka InPlace upgrade]? Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade - TenForumsTutorials
    - - Don't be put off by the name. It is not a reinstallation.
    - - Whilst you should always backup first, your installed applications & your own files should not be affected.
    - - You will have to run Windows update afterwards and you'll get the latest CU re-installed and possibly some other very small ones.

    did the sfc scan and it said nothing all was good but ill try the things you mentioned this is going to cause me to have to go get another laptop i can already feel it

    as soon as I get to the power options my desktop refreshes and so does power settings disappears and I have to re open it again I have to gain access to the internet by going to task man and start chrome up in run a process section this is driving me insane ive never had this issue before

    Boot into safe mode and see if the problem is persistent....safe mode uses basic graphic drivers.

    I just meant the appearance of the power icon in the SystemTray. I did not mean going into Power options. Is that icon flickering between mains power / battery power icons?

    And I agree with Ricard that Safe mode would also be a useful test.
