I changed my mind and ran the update. So far no issues and a couple of nice additions to the Start Screen, like a power off icon and a close app "X", which appears when you move the mouse to the top of the screen.

PCBeta suggests that build 17031 is not RTM, which means that those who rushed to install it might need to reinstall their operating systems once again once the full build becomes available, as it’s not yet clear whether the new and final version could be delivered via Windows Update to these computers.
Microsoft’s Leaked Windows 8.1 Update 1 Version Was Just a Test Build, Not RTM

I have a ten year old computer that I use to test stuff like the 8.1.1 update, and it was running great until Nadia put out an update. I ran the update and boy was that mistake. The update caused the computer to crash without any chance to fix the problem. Attempted all the know repairs just couldn't get it back up again. Had to resort to my backup image to bring the system back to full bore again. So if you have put this on your main system be careful. . .just saying. . .

So its the 335.23 drivers that did you in? I just downloaded them but haven't installed yet. Still running the 334.89.
