Maybe it's time to close this thread.

"larryand" says that HP won't help with the BIOS password issue. (Am I mistaken that it's a BIOS password problem?)

The fixes for it that are available in the wild are hacks, which could be used by laptop thieves. Probably the link that I posted is as dubious as any of the others.

Does anyone have anything to add that is relevant, and that does not involve a hack?

You folks are going to back a guy openly advocating doing something that HP has expressly condemned?
If that’s the case then then I think it’s time I move on... I’ll make that decision myself I don’t need to wait for y’all.

This computer can be fixed it’s not locked out.
I don’t really care what fixes it.
But I’m not opening up that can of worms publicly especially on a site HP MONITORS.

I object to this forum openly condoning hacking administrator passwords
In my opinion it throws a very bad light on this forum.
So if the official stance is to do that then no need to get all huffy about it.

I’ll be More than happy to leave

When running the HP software that checks its computers it makes suggestions.

For the computer used to type this post the HP software displayed:
    Security Status: Fair
Setup Security: BIOS setup not protected

Set BIOS password to improve security.

Had you never set the password?
Did the new computer come with a password that you had never entered?
Was a password entered and forgotten?

What did HP comment about the BIOS password?
