Quick Access a daily nuisance not cooperating at all for work flow

Quick access: I can not empty it I can not make it sort. Do we have any control over quick access ? Any registry hacks to at least tell it not to automatically populate ? So can at the very least make shortcuts to folders filled with links ??
any registry info on quick access ?

Limited possibilities - see the tutorials:

Want more? e.g. favourites, recent items in file explorer and many open/save dialogues?

Try Listary (free) - middle click empty space and you get the dialogue popping up. (In red).

You can expand the folders as shown- its configuration dialogue is shown on the right.

    Don,

    I find these words intriguing.

Please would you post a screenshot of your Quick access and tell us what it is that you want to remove and what you want to add.

Or did F14Tomcat hit the nail on the head?

That sounds more like a new toolbar on the taskbar consisting of a folder with shortcuts. I.e. 'favourites'.

That's one of the things Listary supports too.

But the difference in using Listary here is that the current dialogue (explorer or open/save) is directed to the folder whose shortcut you choose.

    It's also easier to manipulate.

Shortcuts in the taskbar toolbar will simply act as favourites to file explorer- much more limited use.

    Don,

If dalchina is correct or if you had intended to put a folder that was full of links into your Quick access then, once the current problem is resolved, do consider using a "Taskbar Toolbar" for the job.

This is an example and it is so easy to maintain that I use it as my main user interface on all my computers.

    - Taskbar Toolbars can contain shortcuts & sub-folders.
    - Sub-folders fly out XP-style so it's easy to split everything up into sensible groups yet still be able to get to them all very easily.

If you do want to do this then I can give you links to relevant TenForumsTutorials and other TenForums threads on the matter.
