    Unusable blank desktop after update.

Hello, I am having a problem with my Windows installation; since the last update, yesterday, my computer boots up to a blank, unusable desktop. Nothing works except the mouse (I can move it and that's it). My Desktop shortcuts are not there and the only way to fix it is uninstalling the update.

    This is a custom computer.
    Motherboard: GigaByte GA-H97-D3H
    CPU: Intel i7-4790K
    RAM: 8GB
    Windows: 10.0.17763.831

    Any help?
    Thanks

Uninstall the update. You can try to download it again. Go off line to install...... make sure any peripherals are unplugged and turn off your Antivirus.
    Hope this works for you.

If you have not yet uninstalled the update, check if it using your user account or not - in any command prompt, enter
    Code:
    whoami
and you might find that it has logged you into a temporary user profile instead of your normal user account.

I managed to uninstall the update and now it is working again. When the update installs all I can do is move the mouse and that's it; I cannot open a command prompt or do absolutely anything other than move the mouse around. The only way to turn the computer off while it is in this state is to press the on/off button. Eventually the update is going to get installed again and it is going to break the system one more time, I wonder if there is a way to prevent this from happening.

Hi, given your build is 17763.831, to which update are you referring? Thanks.
