    Stuck in startup repair HELP

so today i did the nvidia firmware update thing posted of the forum for display driver, i restarted pc after and got starting repair, i never seen that ever, it just was stuck in that loop, i shut system down , and rebooted and it loads fine, no startup repair at all, but now everytime i restart with the system restart function i get the starting repair thing all the time. but from a shutdown and start up i don't get it at all. I though well maybe it was that update MS pulled so i removed that no go. what the heck is Happening and how do i fix this rather annoying issue. I even tried a repair install with media tool but because it does that dumb stuff on restart it did not take. Any help please i appreciate it its like something is stuck and wont unstuck, honestly there is nothing wrong with windows as it loads fine from a full shut down and power on.

Hi, the difference between restart and shutdown that you are seeing could be explained if you have Fast startup enabled.

See the first few paragraphs explaining this- note the difference in the way drivers are handled:
Turn On or Off Fast Startup in Windows 10

    I've not looked at
the nvidia firmware update thing posted of the forum for display driver
    (reference? link?)
but perhaps you could revert that.

Also try turning off any fast start / boot options in the BIOS

@dalchina hi here is a link to that NVIDIA GRAPHICS FIRMWARE UPDATE TOOL FOR DISPLAYPORT 1.3 AND 1.4 also i will try the suggestion not sure why now it would cause this issue but so worth a shot. also is there a way to do a upgrade repair without it beeing in stage as i have tried that and with this dumb startup repair it fails.

    Thanks- that thread says:

Without the update, systems that are connected to a DisplayPort 1.3 / 1.4 monitor could experience blank screens on boot until the OS loads, or could experience a hang on boot.

The NVIDIA Firmware Updater will detect whether the firmware update is needed, and if needed, will give the user the option to update it.
    - did you manually download it and apply it, or were you prompted to update?

Clearly you've read the comments - some difficulties encountered by others.
You've posted the same query in that thread:

See these notes from the News document:

If you are currently experiencing a blank screen or hang on boot with a DP 1.3 or 1.4 monitor, please try one of the following workarounds in order to run the tool:

    • Boot using DVI or HDMI
    • Boot using a different monitor
    • Change boot mode from UEFI to Legacy; or Legacy to UEFI.
    • Boot using an alternate graphics source (secondary or integrated graphics card)
    - this suggests some problems are anticipated.

    Perhaps try a Nvidia forum.
