Changing Items in The Places Bar (WIN 10 1903)

Trying to find an up to date utility for Win 10 Home to Change Items in The Places Bar. I tried the GPEDIT but nothing seemed to work. Any Ideas appreciated.

You can edit them manually in the Registry under Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\comdlg32\Placesbar
(not sure about W10 Home though!)

You can edit 5 Places but they have to be Shell Locations.

There was an apparent solution in this 2015 thread how to change SAVE AS locations, used to use PLACES BAR EDITOR - TenForums

The discussion here links to an external article which provides a solution Save Dialog Customization - TenForums. I think it states the same as the first link but it might also have something extra that I haven't noticed.

But do note that the customisations described in my links and the other links that have been posted only apply to utilities that call up that version of the Open/SaveAs dialog. The modern standard dialog will not be affected.

The standard Open/SaveAs dialogs & File explorer now include Quick access which rather takes the place of My places / Places bar functionality.
