Just upgraded 7 to 10, Documents don't show up in This PC/Documents

    Hi,
I can see all my files in C/Users/Marc but don't know how to move/point them to the proper location so that they are more readily available. All the folders/locations under This PC are empty.

    Thanks,

    Win 10 Ver 1909

Hi, do you mean 'all your files' were in the default library folders in Win 7, and are now linearly listed under C:\Users\Marc and no longer in folders?

This shouldn't have happened.. but apparently sometimes it does.

Are all the programs you expect to run in startup running? And does your start menu contain what you expected?

No, my exact folder structure from 7 is in C/users/Marc/...
I don't know Win10 yet and I don't know if that folder structure should have shown up automatically in This PC.
Everything is fine so far. All my programs (mostly) are running

Your User files ( ie) Documents, Music, Pictures etc should be under C:\Users\Marc just like Windows 7

Yes it should. What appears to have happened is that your user profile is is not in C:\Users\Marc as it should have been. You user profile either hasn't been migrated successfully or you are signed in with a temporary profile. Try a Restart and see if it sorts itself out.

If after a Restart it's still not right, open a command prompt. The prompt will display the path to the user profile folder you are currently using. If it was working as it should the you would see this: C:\Users\Marc> What does yours say?

Most likely, you were blind-sided by OneDrive during your first login & the folders under This PC are pointing your OneDrive folders.

Right-click Documents under This PC and check the Location tab:Just upgraded 7 to 10, Documents don't show up in This PC/Documents-location-tab.png

The command prompt comes back with C:/Users/Administrator>
    That seems wrong.
And This Documents> Location is C:\Users\Administrator\Documents
    Thanks for your patience.

    Marc,

You don't seem to be logged on to your Marc user account. You seem to be logged on to the normally-disabled & hidden Built-In Administrator account.

In any command prompt, entry whoami and post the results.

Log off from that account and log into Marc.

When you have resolved your Documents location concerns, come back and the command to disable the Administrator account can be explained. All the time it is enabled, it is a security vulnerability.

On boot do you have the option of Administrator and Marc? Check your account info. Click the start window "Bottom Left" Click the gear icon and select accounts.

I just noticed that I'm automatically logged in as Admin and no option for Marc (as was the case in Win 7) . This is only the second day with Win 10.
