Can't Login - Password Gets Mangled - Not CAPS Lock

    Hi folks!

I need a had with an issue I've run into several times now. I've been working around it with System Restore but I'd like to know the real answer. This is in regards to Windows 10 any version.

I had someone remotely log into my computer with a 3rd party app and whenever I typed something it would not come out right. The letters would not be correct. System restore fixed that but I never knew the real answer.

Today I was over at my Mom's and she had cleaned the screen on the computer and the keyboard, but....it was ON when she did it. Now she can't log-in. I typed in her correct password and then looked at what was typed. It was not the same. Some of the letters were incorrect. Same issue. In her case, system restore is turned off. So I can't use that to work around the issue.

What causes this issue? I checked the language settings and they were correct. It's as if the keyboard has been changed or something. Is there some hotkey combination that changes the keyboard? Please help!

    Best & Thanks!

Thanks so much everyone - it was the num lock key. So, when Mom cleaned the keyboard with a cloth she turned it on. And...when the other guy remoted into my computer he probably had numlock turned on on his end.

Thanks VERY much ! I knew it should be simple but could not figure it out. Typing the letter N would result in something like n22n. Bizzarre!
