Getting Desktop on new Tablet - help please!

This might well be something that is generated by your tablet itself [bios, hardware & firmware drivers, ...]. Mine, just by way of example, has a screen display that appears whenever I boot it or let it go to display off and I have to swipe it upwards to get rid of it. There's no info about it anywhere.

Please post a screenshot or a photograph of this unexpected screen.

And have a look through your tablet's manual, maker's support site & any user forums they might have.

Start a new post. In the toolbar above where you are writing you'll see a picture icon [to the right of the hyperlink icon that has a red cross on it]. Click on that picture icon and it will open a dialog that allows you to attach a picture to your post [sometimes it is slow to bring up the dialog fully].

That's the "Start screen" as opposed to the "Start menu".

Turn On or Off Use Start Full Screen - TenForumsTutorials

Do it this way:
Settings,
Personalisation,
Start,
Use start full screen - turn this off.

Denis, It appears that the original method was replaced in 2015 by a new one
