    Are you referring to your post #16?

    That program may do the same thing as the Advanced Recovery Environment as far as reassigning drive letters but I do not believe it has the same authority as the built in Advanced Recovery Environment unless it is part of it.

    In that post, the words "Advanced Recovery Environment" did not come up, so I missed drive letters being reassigned.

    Just want to add here, if you have a file that is doing this and having these symptoms, sometimes a simple disk check at boot will fix the issue.
